Sur Global Consulting is a sustainable development firm based in Toronto, Canada, due more to life’s unexpected turns than choice. Built as a network of development specialists from or based in the South of the world, we operate at the intersection of policy analysis, strategic communication and political dialogue, translating complex evidence into high-impact narratives and interventions.
We help civil society organizations, business, international organizations, development banks, and governments to understand, communicate and influence complex sustainable development challenges from diverse perspectives rooted in the South.
What sets us apart is our ability to combine analytical rigour, public policy advocacy and narrative sensitivity, linking technical evidence with key audiences and decision-making processes.
Philosophy
At Sur Global Consulting, we are committed to recognizing, amplifying, and advancing the knowledge, expertise, and leadership from the South of the world. Too often, global development narratives have positioned Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean, and Asia primarily as recipients of ideas and solutions. We seek to reshape that narrative.
Our work is grounded in the conviction that sustainable and effective solutions to sustainable development challenges are strongest when informed by the lived experiences, evidence, and perspectives of those closest to the issues at hand. We therefore strive to elevate the voices of highly qualified experts from the Global South in policy debates, research, and advocacy initiatives. By connecting these experts and local communities with global policy hubs and decision-making spaces, we contribute to more inclusive, representative, and impactful dialogue.
We also champion diversity of thought. Through our analyses, communications, and strategic advisory services, we bring forward a plurality of perspectives that reflect the complexity and richness of communities across the South. We believe that a deeper understanding of local realities strengthens global decision-making and leads to more equitable and effective outcomes.
